My grandfather, Ward Dallas MaHan was Irish, so I guess my interest in Celtic knots is in my DNA. However, my family was “black” Irish, protestant Irish, not Catholic Irish.
I don’t really understand why people don’t just get along. The conflicts in Ireland about religion have been around for a LONG time. Listen to the song, Wearing of the green, here..
There is a bit of bullying going on around the world about St Patrick’s day… concerning wearing green on St Patrick’s day. When I was little, anyone NOT wearing green on March 17th wound be hit or pinched. Don’t get me wrong , green is my favorite color. But I choose to not wear it on March 17th.
We should all be kind to each other and respect each person’s beliefs.
Just be kind.
Go to the free patterns page for updated instructions to tat my Celtic Shamrock from 2005. In the post from way back in 2005 I referred to my book, Celtic Tatting Knots and Patterns, for the weaving instructions. Anyone trying to make this shamrock from a photo online, or without the book has had difficulty. Well, MORE difficulty. If it were easy it wouldn’t be nearly as much fun.
I hope you enjoy all that the month of March brings; the hope of Spring, the first flowers, the singing of the birds, and nature turning the trees and grasses green.again.
Hugs to all!
